Pa. Pillow Fight Shooting Suspect Set For Trial
UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A southwestern Pennsylvania woman is scheduled for trial on charges she fatally shot her boyfriend after they argued about who could use their favorite pillow.
Forty-four-year-old Johnna Marie Palya is scheduled for trial Monday on criminal homicide for shooting 43-year-old Barry Pavlicko on Aug. 26, 2007. Pavlicko died about two months after he was wounded in the couple's home in North Union Township, Fayette County.
Police say Palya told them she shot Pavlicko after he took the pillow she had planned to sleep with and then attempted to shove her down the stairs. Palya contends she tried to fire over his head, but that he pulled on the gun as she did so and she shot him in the forehead.
But medical experts say Pavlicko was actually shot in the back of the head.
