Small completed his specialty residency in general surgery at Pinnacle Health System, Harrisburg, from 2004-2009 where he was chief resident 2008-2009. His prior residency experience also involved general surgery with advanced laparoscopy error and bariatrics, trauma at Baltimore Shock Trauma Center, SICU and pediatrics at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

From the same practice is Anuj Prashar, D.O., a general surgeon, who has been seeing patients at FCMC since August 2008. Their patient case loads involve a wide variety of general surgery procedures, including various hernia repairs, gallbladder removal, diagnostic endoscopy, advanced laparoscopic and laparoscopic surgery, to name a few.

Prashar also performs laparoscopic bariatric surgery through his affiliation with The Weight Loss Clinic in Harrisburg and Hagerstown.

This brings the total number of general surgeons at FCMC to three, including board-certified general surgeon, Karl Riggle, M.D., of Tri-State Surgeons in Hagerstown. Riggle has been affiliated with FCMC since 1991.

Since last August, FCMC has welcomed five new physicians and hopes to keep recruiting new physicians with the much-anticipated opening of the new patient services building scheduled to open in June 2010.
