Johnnie E. Powell
Johnnie E. Powell, 79, Warfordsburg, died Monday, August 17, 2009, near Warfordsburg.
Born March 29, 1930, in Black Oak, Pa., he was the son of the late Jacob Elmer and Harriet Alice Helper Powell and the husband of the late Frances G. Peck Powell, who died in 1980.
He attended Southern Fulton School District schools. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Mays Chapel Christian Church.
Surviving are four sons: Michael John Powell and wife Evelyn, David Allen Powell and wife Donna and Kevin Dwight Powell, all of Warfordsburg; Russell L. Powell and wife Penny of Little Orleans, Md.; one daughter, Linda Spangler, Defiance, Ohio; two sisters: Vi Bowers, Hancock, and Naomi Rummel, Mt. Vernon, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Randy Steven Powell and Daniel Shawn Powell; five brothers: Henry, Stanley, Floyd, Carl and Donald Powell; and three sisters: Estelle Apple, Opal Seavolt and Louise Seavolt.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 19, at 8:00 p.m., at Mays Chapel Christian Church, Warfordsburg. Rev. Delmas Bard officiated. Burial was at the convenience of the family.
