Helen R. Eddy
Born August 16, 1915, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Bessie Beard Hess and the widow of James H. Eddy Sr., who died October 9, 1991.
She attended Hancock schools.
She was retired from Londontown Manufacturing, Hancock, and was formerly employed as a seamstress with Jacob Brothers.
She was a member of Hancock Historical Society and the AARP.
She was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church and the Philathia Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret R. Weller of Hancock; one son, James H. Eddy Jr. of Berkeley Springs, W. Va.; one sister, Kathleen Bohrer of Frederick, Md.; five grandchildren: Barbara Strunk, Donna Souders, Nicole Coles, Jamie Eddy, Simba Souders; four greatgrandchildren: Kailea Mc- Cormick, Shelly Strunk, Korinne Coles, Abby Coles; and one greatgreat grandson, Noah James Mc- Cormick/Fisher. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Lanahan, Margaret Long; and two brothers: William Hess and Kenneth Hess.
Services were held Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hancock United Methodist Church, with Rev. Duane L. Jensen officiating. Burial was made in Rehobeth United Methodist Cemetery near Hancock.
