We are having beautiful August weather.

Our sympathy is extended to Ruth Byers and family on the loss of her husband, Paul Byers, last week.

We are glad to hear Lester Swope is doing well after having back surgery. Hope he will be home soon.

Congratulations to Mr. and

Mrs. Adam Holtz on the arrival of a daughter on Sunday. Mrs. Holtz is the former Sandra Bennett.

Congratulations to Forbes Road teen baseball league on winning the Bedford County Teen League championship. This is their first year in the league. Final record is 12 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie. Team members are Dylan Burger, Brandon Blair, Kolby Buterbaugh, Dustin Sheffield, Brett Burger, Jared Henry, Coleman Marsh, Ryan Hahn, Dakota Deshong and Skylar Deshong. The team coaches are Steve Blair and Eric True.

Karen Bennett of Charlottesville, Va., stopped in for a visit with Kate Berkstresser on Sunday afternoon.

Liberty Crouse, 6-year-old daughter of Michael and Mary Crouse, has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. She recently had surgery. Get-well wishes can be sent to her at: 8129 Big Cove Tannery Road, Big Cove Tannery, PA 17212. She is taking treatments at Hershey Medical Center five days a week, and she would appreciate a card to bring a little cheer to her.

Happy birthday wishes to Vivian Covert on August 12. She is in the extended care unit at Fulton County Medical Center. Also, happy birthday wishes on August 18 to the triplets, Jacob, Joel and Jonah Peck; and to Casey Englert on August 11.

Household hint - Beware of broken light bulbs in socket. If this happens, unplug the lamp or turn off circuit that light fixture is connected to. Wearing a heavy glove, take a wad of newspaper and press down and twist counter clockwise on the top of the socket.
