Gun Drawing The Hustontown Area Vol. Fire Co. will sponsor a gun drawing at the fire station on Saturday, September 12 beginning at 6:00 p.m. 200 tickets will be sold and cost $200 each, which will include a meal for the ticket holder and one guest. Air-conditioned and smokefree facility.

Outdoor Country Music Show On August 30, 1:30 p.m., Mountainside Chapel, 7705 Upper Horse Valley Road, Upper Strasburg, Pa. Chapel is located approx. 5.6 miles on Upper Horse Valley Road. Guest performers will be Guilford Station Band. Admission is donation. Concession stand on premises. Also BBQ chicken dinners will be available for $7.00 each, which includes 1/2 chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, applesauce, roll & butter, ice tea/lemonade or coffee. Bring lawn chairs. Bus Trip To Boyds Bear Country in Gettysburg to attend the 2009 BasketFest with Longaberger®. This is the fifth year for the Basket- Fest and basket weavers will be on site. Trip is Saturday, August 29, and leaves at 8:30 a.m. from Giant. Tour planner is Deb Toothman. Trip includes bus, drink, snacks and games. Call for more details and to sign up at 717-485-3718. Nature/Plant ID Walk The Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies and forester Dave Scamardella in conjunction with the Fulton County Parks and Recreation Commission will be hosting a nature walk on Sunday, September 20, at 3 p.m. at the Kerper Tract in Big Cove Tannery. Raindate is September 27. The walk will span two miles and is categorized as "moderately" difficult. This event will include identification of various plants and trees and is a perfect opportunity for students needing to complete a school leaf collection. Rifle Shoot The Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club wish to invite the public to join them for practice trap shoots every Friday night starting Good Friday, April 10 until November 20 and trap shoots at noon the third Sunday of every month from now until the end of the year.

FR Soccer Registration Forbes Road AYSO soccer registration will be held August 13 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forbes Road Lions Club Park.

Youth Field Day Fulton County Youth Field Day will be held Saturday, September 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A light lunch will be provided at no cost. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 50 youths. Applications may be picked up at Keller's Store in Hustontown, Harr's Grocery, Keystone Country Store, Fulton County Extension Office or by e-mail at youthfieldday@hotmail.com.

Car Show McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Assoc. will be having a car show for anyone interested on Saturday, September 19, at the alumni community center. For more information, please call Nicole Earley at 717-360-4590.

Free Family Fun Night A free family fun night for the community will be held at Fairveiw United Methodist Church on North Hess Road on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. There will be games and activities for all ages: tots, mids, teens, young adults and, yes, even seniors. Hot dogs will be roasted, s'mores will be made, homemade ice cream will be served along with other tasty snacks. Bring lawn chair and participate in this evening of fun, food and fellowship. Bus Trip PAR-PAC will be having a bus trip to Atlantic City on September 19. Cost is $60. Money must accompany reservations. You will receive cash back plus meal. Fruit & Vegetable Decorating Contest Drop off entries at the 4- H youth building at the Fulton County Fairgrounds on Sunday afternoon, August 16, or Monday, August 17. The entries do not go through the fair office. Open to all youths age 5-18. or more information stop by the extension office or call 485-4111 and ask for Lori.
