The descendants of the late Charlie and Annabelle McGarvey held their annual family reunion at Lions Club Park on Sunday.

Roger and Betty Rhodes of town visited with Betty's brother, Robert Carbaugh, and family in Texas last week.

An outdoor family pool party and picnic party were held last Sunday, July 26, at Dave and Jan Hoover's to celebrate 11 birthdays in the family in July, including Jan's mother, Audrey Cutchall, who was 81, and her niece, Kinsey Cutchall, who was 16. There were 44 attending the celebration.

Dick and Grace Barton had a family get-together at their home with 30 relatives attending, including Dick's sister and family Ken, Dorothy and Craig Truhn of Sidney, N.Y. Dick and Grace celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on July 31.

Doris Strait, Roger and Sandy Strait, Max and Robin Harr, John and Tanya Braswell and children, Gladys Broswell, Lori and Scot Mellott and children Josh and Jenn recently vacationed at Chincoteague, Va.

Lee and Sharon Glazier and grandchildren Conrad and Caitlin visited with their daughter, Tricia, and family in Boston. While there, they took in some sightseeing, including Plymouth Rock.

Clarence "Bushy" and Nancy Kerlin enjoyed a three-week visit from their three granddaughters: twins Katie and Nickie and Amber of Colorado. They are busy sightseeing and enjoying other activities while here.

It happened his week: Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd were teamed for the first time in the short animated film "A Wild Hare" in 1940. This was also the cartoon where Bugs first said "What's up, Doc?"

Country shortcuts: Cut off the knitted cuff from an old sweatshirt and slip it around the sun visor in your car to hold a pencil, letters and etc. It costs nothing and works well.

Visiting with Louise Long last week were her daughter-in-law Debra and son Adam of Anchorage, Alaska. They enjoyed touring Gettysburg and Lancaster while here.

Curtis and Donna Brant, Larry and Connie Hamil, and Denise Grissinger spent last week vacationing in Hawaii.

A Tinker Bell birthday party was held on Sunday to celebrate Braelyn Starliper's second birthday in the home of her grandmother, Mindy Starliper, in Needmore. She is the daughter of Ashley Starliper. There were 39 relatives and friends attending.

Shawn Knepper of McConellsburg is celebrating a birthday this week. He turned 38 on Wednesday, August 5, and is doing much better since his brain tumor surgeries.

Doretta Mellott attended the 44th annual PA State Association of Jury Commissioners conference in Chester County, where she was elected treasurer of the association for another term.
