Theft Is Crime Of The Week

Fulton County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a thief responsible for an incident at the McConnellsburgbased Sheetz convenience store.

State police, McConnellsburg, reported Arthur Howell of Mc- Connellsburg inadvertently left his wallet containing $50 at the store on Tuesday, July 14, at approximately 4:30 a.m. When Howell returned an hour later, his wallet was found minus the cash.

Assault Investigated

State police, McConnellsburg, are continuing to investigate an incident of simple assault that occurred at a location along Woodside Drive in Ayr Township on Thursday, July 30. According to reports, a 21-year-old white male from the Needmore area allegedly slapped a 19-year-old Mc- Connellsburg woman in the face with a bag and pulled her hair at 2 a.m. He then swiped at her with a knife and threatened her with bodily harm. State police did not release the name of the male suspect.

Jeep Overturns

Two Mercersburg men escaped harm when their westbound 2004 Jeep Liberty crashed into an embankment along Route 16 and overturned. Driver Steven P. Wright, 30, and 22-yearold passenger Roy J. Clift were both wearing seat belts when the accident occurred just north of Paradise Lane at 10:50 a.m. State police said Wright crashed into a large boulder on the Ayr Township roadway, causing him to lose control of his vehicle.

Harrisonville Man Cited For Public Drunkenness

A Harrisonville man faces charges of public drunkenness following an episode on the 400 block of North Second Street in McConnellsburg Borough. Fortythree year-old John Daniel Piper was found to be under the influence of alcohol, according to state police, on Wednesday, July 29, at 10:23 p.m.

Teen Uninjured In Accident

A 17-year-old Hustontown boy was not injured after he lost control of his westbound 2002 Mercury Mountaineer along Waterfall Road last Wednesday evening. The teen driver lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve, causing it to strike an embankment in Dublin Township at 6:43 p.m. The SUV then struck a tree before rolling over. The juvenile was wearing a seatbelt, and his vehicle was disabled.

Burglars Take Money

Burglars broke into Jami's Ice Cream and Sipes Produce along Lincoln Way West, McConnellsburg, and removed both soda and change. The break-in occurred between 5 p.m. on July 27 and noon on July 28. Motorcycle Operator Flown To Trauma Center

A Hustontown man was flown to Altoona Trauma Center for treatment of moderate injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident along Cito Road. Aaron Koons, 25, struck a utility pole with his 2003 Suzuki GSXR600 while topping a hill in Ayr Township. Following impact, Koons' motorcycle continued into a field located off the eastern berm. State police investigators did not say if Koons was wearing a helmet when the collision occurred on Tuesday, July 28, at 5:50 p.m.

Hubcaps Stolen

Four hubcaps, an air cleaner with elbow connector as well as center caps and trim rings were among the items taken off a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS between 4:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. The victim, a 43- year-old male, told state police the stolen auto parts were valued at $1,030. The car was parked at 1176 New Grenada Highway in Wells Township when the theft occurred.

Area Man Accused Of Trespassing, Harassment

A 68-year-old Harrisonville man is being cited for harassment as well as criminal trespassing through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott. Russell Boyd DeShong allegedly poked his finger in the face of a 46-year-old Harrisonville man and threatened to harm him on Sunday, August 2, at 3 p.m. at a location along Pleasant Ridge Road. The victim reportedly asked DeShong to leave his driveway, but DeShong refused.

Public Disturbance Investigated

State police, McConnellsburg, investigated an incident of disorderly conduct that occurred along Knobsville Road in Todd Township Saturday, August 1. Susan Naugle, 32, of McConnellsburg allegedly caused a public disturbance and was arrested at approximately 5 p.m., state police reported.

Vehicle Hydroplanes

A vehicle became disabled after hydroplaning along the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 on Friday, July 31. Eighteenyear old Alexis Catherine Dache from Fairfax, Va., lost control of her 2006 Honda Civic at noon on the rain-soaked Union Township roadway. The vehicle spun and travelled backwards through several small trees and bushes. Dache and her 15-year-old passenger were both wearing seat belts and escaped harm. The car was towed from the accident scene by Town Hill Auto.

Tree Falls On Van

A tree fell onto the roof of a 1999 Dodge Caravan that was heading southbound on Sinoquipe Road Monday. Driver Darlene Senft, 55, Three Springs, swerved following impact, causing her van to hit a fence post. Senft was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries in the 6:15 a.m. crash.

Vehicle Stolen

A black 1997 Ford Explorer with Maryland registration 31905MO was stolen from 6202 Lincoln Highway, Harrisonville, between 8 p.m. on August 2 and 9 a.m. on August 3. The victim is a 41-year-old Harrisonville woman, who told police the vehicle has dark-tinted windows, minor damage to the left rear quarter panel and taillight problems.
