Three Escape Injury In Crash
A Three Springs woman and her two children escaped harm when their southbound 2000 Dodge Intrepid slid off the roadway and into a culvert along Route 522 last Thursday afternoon. Ashley D. Jamison, 21, was wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. in Dublin Township. Both of her children were seated in child safety seats, state police added.
Police Investigate Aggravated Assault
A 16-year-old male from Mc- Connellsburg was transported to the Fulton County Medical Center after he was assaulted in an alley along East Maple Street in McConnellsburg Borough last week.
State police reported the boy and two friends were walking home at 9:13 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, when an unknown man accused the trio of walking across his yard. Troopers added the man yelled for a friend, who appeared from around the house situated on the 600 block of East Maple Street and confronted the three in an alley.
The 16-year-old boy was struck in the face and knocked to the ground. Upon standing up, the victim was punched a second time. State police have described the suspect as a thin black male in his late teens standing between 5-feet 10-inches and 6 foot. Hit-And-Run In Borough
State police were dispatched to a parking lot in the McConnellsburg Borough where the right rear corner of a 2005 Nissan Quest was struck by an unknown vehicle on Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. The unknown vehicle was last scene heading north from the parking area, which was not identified by state police.
Woman Victim Of Harassment
A 53-year-old Hustontown man has been accused of harassment as a result of an incident that occurred at 430 Memory Lane on Wednesday, July 22. State police, McConnellsburg, related Gary Philip Haines has been charged with harassment and criminal mischief through the office of Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne.
Haines allegedly argued with a 24-year-old woman at 10 p.m. and struck her with a plastic baseball bat. When the woman attempted to leave, Haines reportedly threw a child's bicycle, striking the windshield and passenger side of her vehicle.
Bad Checks Written
Fifty-two-year-old Warfordsburg resident Dayna H. Lininger allegedly wrote two bad checks to the Southern Fulton School District between April 28 and 29, according to state police reports. Lininger will be cited through Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson.
Church Alarms Sound
The security system at Mc- Connellsburg Methodist Church at 121 North Second Street was set off on Monday, July 20, at 2:21 a.m. According to state police, both the front and basement doors were unlocked when they were opened.
A 51-year-old man, who accidentally left his wallet at the Sheetz convenience store in Mc- Connellsburg at 4:30 a.m., returned an hour later on Tuesday, July 14, and found his money was missing. One Cited For Burglary
Twenty-year-old McConnellsburg resident Kourtney Lee Branche has been accused of burglary and theft after he allegedly crawled through a bedroom window at 201 Heritage Drive, McConnellsburg, and removed various items. Christine Marie Mellott, 45, of Hustontown, has been charged with driving under the influence in connection with an incident along Route 475 in the village of Hustontown. Mellott was reportedly involved in a hitand run collision in Dublin Township on Sunday, July 26, at 12:15 a.m., which in turn led to the drunk driving arrest.
Teen Accused Of Underage Drinking
A 17-year-old girl was accused of underage drinking after she allegedly drank vodka at 917 Dogwood Lane, McConnellsburg, on Friday, July 24, at 12:05 a.m., according to state police in McConnellsburg.
McConnellsburg Woman Charged In Crash
Twenty-four-year-old Holly N. Martin of McConnellsburg faces charges of driving at safe speeds as a result of her southbound 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier striking railroad ties on the berm of Waterfall Road and travelling into a ditch. Martin's vehicle came to rest on its left side during the Friday, July 24, crash at 3:10 p.m. Martin was wearing a seat belt and escaped harm.
Police Investigate Drug Act Violation
State police, McConnellsburg, investigated a possible drug violation during a traffic stop along Interstate 70 last Friday morning in Brush Creek Township. During the stop, troopers determined Hector De Leon Calderon, 38, did not possess a driver's license or insurance for the vehicle he was operating at 8:59 a.m. In addition, Calderon, who had been living in Uniondale, N.Y., was from Guatemala and not a citizen of the United States.
A search of the vehicle revealed a suspected methamphetamine smoking pipe and various pills. Calderon was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson and remanded to the Franklin County Prison in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bond.
Four Berkeley Springs Residents Charged Following Argument
A 20-year-old Hancock, Md., man was transported to Fulton County Medical Center early Saturday morning for treatment of injuries sustained in an argument at 374 Powell Road in Thompson Township.
According to state police, the injuries were sustained when a 19-year-old Warfordsburg area girl became involved in a verbal argument with Morgan Elizabeth Young, 18, and two female juveniles at 2:30 a.m. The fight escalated when the trio allegedly struck the Fulton County girl in the face several times. The Hancock, Md., man attempted to break up the fight when he was punched in the face repeated by Derek Travis McCumbee, 27.
McCumbee will be charged with simple assault and harassment, while the three females will be cited for harassment. All four, who hail from Berkeley Springs, WV, will be charged through Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson.
Harrisonville Man Charged In Altercation
Harassment charges will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson against 23-year-old Lance Mellott of Harrisonville, who allegedly struck a 27-year-old woman in the face several times. Mellott, state police added, fled 1281 Camp Ridge Road in Licking Creek Township following the incident on Sunday, July 26, at 3:30 a.m.
Warrant To Be Issued
An arrest warrant is slated to be issued for the arrest of 48- year-old Maverick Lee Gabelli in connection with a verbal and physical altercation outside the McConnellsburg state police barracks on Sunday, July 26, at 5:54 p.m. Gabelli was allegedly involved in a domestic disturbance with a 33-year-old woman, thereby resulting in charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. A vehicle driven by a McConnellsburg woman collided with a tree along Path Valley Road in Franklin County last Monday and caught on fire. Twenty-oneyear old Amanda Virginia Alisea was transported to the Fulton County Medical Center for treatment of injuries following the 1:29 p.m. accident in Fannett Township.
Cited In Franklin County Collision
State police in Chambersburg will be filing charges involving unsafe passing against 58-yearold Beverly A. McDaid of Hustontown in connection with a two-vehicle collision along Lincoln Way West in Peters Township, Franklin County. McDaid reportedly tried to pass Nicole L. Rogers, 31, of Fort Loudon, when the crash occurred at 8:52 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22. Rogers was attempting to turn left onto Main Street in Fort Loudon when her eastbound vehicle was struck.
Uninjured In Crash
Two drivers escaped injury when their vehicles collided along I-81 on Sunday, July 19, state police in Chambersburg reported. The crash occurred when William G. Gordon, 55, of Burnt Cabins attempted to switch lanes and the front end of his tractor-trailer collided with the left rear of a car driven by William P. Webster, 57, of Greencastle. The impact caused Webster's car to spin out of control into the median strip. Both Gordon and Webster were wearing seat belts.
Cited For Trespassing
A 15-year-old McConnellsburg boy was reportedly found trespassing on the 498 Doyle Lane property belonging to a 64- year-old McConnellsburg woman. The juvenile was riding his all-terrain vehicle at the time and property damage was sustained. Charges in connection with the Friday, July 24, 7:50 p.m. incident will be filed through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.
