Charles F. Hoffman
Charles F. Hoffman, 91, Three Springs, Pa., died at 3:47 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born August 1, 1917, in Clay Twp., Huntingdon Co., Pa, he was the son of the late Harice and Eliza (Masemore) Hoffman. He was married to the former Althea E. Ford on June 14, 1947, at Saltillo, PA. She preceded him in death August 22, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters: Sherry McClure and husband David, Three Springs, and Barbara Swope and husband Dwight, Orbisonia; two grandchildren: Tammy Sample and Adam Swope, and four greatgrandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
He was of the Protestant faith. He was a life member of Madden Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace.
Along with being a life-long farmer, he was last employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. Prior to that he was employed by the East Broad Top Railroad and he also worked as a coal miner and as a logger.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army stationed at the Aleutian Islands.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Interment was made at Cherry Grove Cemetery, RD, Three Springs.
