State Police: Crime Up Slightly Overall
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - The total number of crimes reported to Pennsylvania State Police in 2008 is up 0.4 percent over the year before.
But figures released Thursday show violent crime dropping by 1 percent in 2008. Property crimes were up by 2.8 percent. Murders dropped by 4.6 percent, from 732 in 2007 to 698 in 2008.
The figures only involve crimes reported to state police, not ones reported to local police departments in Pennsylvania.
