Trial Set To Open In Killing Outside Pa. Cabin
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man goes on trial Monday on charges of killing a man outside a cabin a year ago.
Blair County Judge Elizabeth Doyle asked jurors to wear comfortable shoes because she anticipates that they will visit the scene of the shooting death of 39-year-old Marcus Chromy of Johnstown. She said defense attorney Kevin Sottile asked for the visit.
Blair County District Attorney Richard Consiglio is seeking a first-degree murder conviction of 38-year-old Shawn Dugan of Johnstown. He is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and other counts.
State police say Dugan, Chromy and a Johnstown woman went to the cabin on June 5, 2008. They allege that two days later, Dugan got upset at the way Chromy was treating the woman and killed him with a 12-gauge shotgun.
