William R. Miller

Burnt Cabins, 57

William Ray Miller, 57, Burnt Cabins, died at 8:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009, in Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.

Born September 1, 1951, in McConnellsburg, he was the son of the late Vivian and Goldie Mae (Naugle) Miller. He lived his early life and attended schools in Fort Littleton.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1973 with a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was employed as a carpenter working on commercial construction sites throughout the East Coast. He was a member of a carpenter's union.

A favorite pastime was fishing.

He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Ferguson, and her husband, Shawn, Hagerstown, Md.; a son, Kirk Allen Miller, and his wife, Brenda, Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren: Alexis, Kaleb and Sam Ferguson, and Syna Miller; sisters: Carol Taylor, Fort Littleton; Shirley Kerlin, McConnellsburg; Nancy Peck, Fort Littleton; Cathy Shope, Indiana, Pa.; and Barbara Pollock, Gettysburg; brothers: Randall Miller, Fort Littleton; Richard Miller, Hustontown; Pierce Miller, McConnellsburg; and Steve Miller, Three Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Jane Lester, and a brother, Robert Miller.

A Celebration of Life was held at 7:15 p.m., Friday, July 17, at Fort Littleton Bible Church, Fort Littleton. Pastor Deborah Strait was the celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Fort Littleton Bible Church c/o Clara Mae Strait P.O. Box 463, Hustontown, PA 17229.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, was in charge of the arrangements.
