Police Say Fatal Pa. Hit-Run Might Be Inadvertent
JIM THORPE, Pa. (AP) - A police chief in eastern Pennsylvania says a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian might have driven off without realizing what happened.
Jim Thorpe Police Chief Barry Andrew says tractor-trailers frequently bump curbs in the area where 46-year-old Howard Wert was killed Thursday night. He says the driver might have thought that's what happened and left without realizing a man was struck.
Wert lived in Weissport, several miles from where he was killed. It was not immediately clear what he was doing in Jim Thorpe.
