First Annual Agriculture Appreciation Picnic Held
More than 100 local folks joined together on Sunday, July 12, 2009, to show their support and appreciation for agriculture in Fulton County. Coordinated by the Fulton County Conservation District, Fulton County Farm Bureau, Fulton County Milk Promoters, Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation District, and Penn State Cooperative Extension, the covered-dish picnic was open to the general public and was held at the American Legion Picnic grounds, through the support of several local businesses.
The pig roast was completed by local FFA students. While the younger kids attending were kept busy with a mini-tractor pull, face painting and outdoor games and crafts, older youths and adults were invited to participate in a volleyball tournament.
Fulton County has a proud heritage in agriculture and is one of the many reasons Pennsylvania is known worldwide for agricultural production. For more information on Fulton County agriculture, please contact any of the coordinating offices.
