McConnellsburg Man Cited For Retail Theft

Nineteen-year-old Kourtney Lee Branche of McConnellsburg was cited last Wednesday through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott for retail theft. The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the Dollar General Store on June 24 at 8:30 p.m. Branche allegedly filled an empty backpack with items from the store and attempted to leave.

One Charged In Theft

A Big Cove Tannery man has been charged with theft by unlawful taking in connection with an incident that occurred at the home of a 69-year-old Big Cove Tannery man between 9 p.m. on July 8 and 2 p.m. on July 9. Charges have been filed against 20-year-old Billy Joe Pittman as a result of the theft.

Eggs Thrown

Several raw eggs were thrown at the 630 East Maple Street, McConnellsburg, home occupied by a 23-year-old man. The criminal mischief occurred between 10 p.m. on July 13 and 1:40 p.m. on July 14. Man Accused Of Harassment

A McConnellsburg man has been accused of harassment as a result of an altercation at 214 Crossroads Road in Ayr Township on Saturday, July 11. According to state police, 39-yearold Troy J. Knepper allegedly grabbed a 15-year-old Mc- Connellsburg boy by the throat and then slapped him in the face at 9:40 p.m.

Toddler Found Unconscious

A 22-month-old boy was found unconscious with his face in a decorative water display at a residence along Fairview Road in Warfordsburg Sunday evening. Family members, according to state police, were able to provide medical attention to the toddler from instructions provided by the 911 dispatch center.

The boy was flown from the scene by Maryland State Police helicopter, known as Trooper 5, to Washington County Hospital in Maryland. The toddler, state police added, was conscious and breathing when he left the scene in Union Township at 7:56 p.m.

State police were assisted on the scene by Washington County Rescue, Allegany County Fire and Rescue, and Little Orleans Fire Department.

Two Charged With Drug Violations

Two individuals will be charged by state police with violating Act 64 after they were allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia early Saturday morning at a location along Route 915. A male juvenile will be charged through Fulton County Juvenile Probation, while Justin Veryl Sward, 19, of Shirleysburg will be cited through Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott. The duo were initially observed by Pennsylvania Game Commission officials in a parked vehicle just south of Corner Road at 12:02 a.m.

Underage-Drinking Charges Filed

State police have charged a 15-year-old McConnellsburg boy with underage drinking in connection with an incident along Route 928 in Ayr Township on Friday, July 17, at 11:30 p.m.

Two Cited In Argument

Two Warfordsburg area men have been cited for harassment as a result of a verbal argument that turned physical at 4929 Buck Valley Road. State police reported Adriel Fonda Fletcher, 42, allegedly "got in the face" of James Webster Shank, 68, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18. Fletcher is accused of spitting in Shank's face. Shank in turn punched Fletcher in the left eye, causing minor bruising.

Windshield Cracked

The windshield of a red Dodge Caravan was cracked while parked at 524 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, on Sun- day, July 19, at 3:45 p.m. The victim was a 46-year-old Mc- Connellsburg man. Drug Charges Pending

Various drug-related charges through Magisterial District Judge Carol Jean Johnson are pending the receipt of state police laboratory results. Twentyseven year-old David Nicholas Benson of Dundlak, Md., was found in possession of numerous prescription pills, suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at 11:19 a.m. on Saturday, July 18. State police reported Benson did not possess a prescription for any of the pills in his possession.

McConnellsburg Man Accused Of Assault

A 28-year-old McConnellsburg man has been accused of simple assault and harassment following an argument at 328 Reservoir Road in Todd Township last Thursday afternoon.

According to state police, Justin Lee Thomas allegedly struck a 15-year-old girl in the mouth with a four-wheeler part. When grabbed by the neck by a 35-year-old McConnellsburg woman, Thomas reportedly grabbed and squeezed the woman's arms. Thomas attempted to drive away and shoved the juvenile into the truck mirror when she tried to stop him. He also shoved the woman into the truck, hurting her elbow. Thomas was arrested on the scene at 3:12 p.m. by state police troopers.

Maryland Woman Arrested For DUI

Sandra Lee Gilbert of Abingdon, Md., was arrested for driving under the influence after she was allegedly observed driving erratically near the intersection of Route 522 and Sinoquipe Road in Fort Littleton. Gilbert, 62, was stopped by state police on Sunday, July 12, at 5:45 p.m. in Dublin Township and was subsequently charged with drunk-driving through Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne.

Area Man Connected To Forgery

An 18-year-old McConnellsburg man has been connected to an incident at Tower Bank in McConnellsburg, where he allegedly identified himself as a 61-year-old Harrisburg resident and removed $400 from a savings account after filling out a withdrawal slip. After completing the initial transaction on Wednesday, July 15, at 9 a.m., Kourtney Lee Branche allegedly returned to the bank at 101 Lincoln Way West and attempted to withdraw the remaining funds from the account

Branche, state police added, was also unsuccessful in withdrawing an additional $200 through the bank's drive thru branch on Thursday, July 16. Branche was arrested by state police and has been charged with forgery, identity theft and theft by deception.

Two Women Cited In Fight

Two McConnellsburg women face charges of harassment after being involved in a fight at 295 Heritage Drive in Ayr Township last Thursday. State police reported, charges have been filed against Patsy Anne Branche-Dinkins, 59, and 42-year-old Stephanie Selene Branche for the July 16 2:45 p.m. incident. Police reported Dinkins pushed Branche and punched her in the mouth. Branche retaliated and punched Dinkins in the face.
