Pa. Minor League Arena Football Players Arrested
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - Two players from a minor league arena football team in northeastern Pennsylvania are in trouble with the law following an altercation outside a nightclub.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have suspended Justin Denmar Parrish and Jason Prince Acquaye from the team following their arrests early Thursday morning in Wilkes- Barre.
Parrish is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses, accused of attacking a woman who tried to break up a fight, then running from police. The woman had 10 staples in her head but was released from a hospital later Thursday.
Acquaye is accused of being part of a group of about 50 people who gathered as Parrish was being arrested. Police say he walked toward and yelled at police despite repeated commands to leave.
Both were jailed later Thursday; it was not immediately clear if they had lawyers.
