Support The Golf Club Pool

To The Editor:

The pool at Great Cove Golf Club should not be neglected or ignored. As the only swimming pool with public access in Mc- Connellsburg and the surrounding area, it is a gem for the community. In this pool countless children and adults under the capable supervision of Mrs. Kathy Kendall and her instructors have learned the art of swimming. The Red Cross program at Great Cove Golf Club teaches proper breathing and stroke technique as well as water safety. The program saves lives.

Parents, it is an opportunity to give your children lifetime skills. Students at all levels of swimming learn that they can meet skill challenges with determination and persistence and then experience the joy of success as its own reward. In these days of health awareness, swimming is a wonderful aerobic exercise and no one is too old to swim or to learn to swim well.

Perhaps not everyone knows that Mrs. Kendall's teaching skills are appreciated in Franklin County, too. Her expert instruction has trained many lifeguards and water safety instructors in both counties. They are well certified in Red Cross swimming instruction and safety. We are very fortunate to have her home pool at Great Cove Golf Club.

Please call the golf club at 485- 5876, the pool at 485-9262 or Mrs. Kendall at 485-0221 to let them know of your interest in any of their swim programs or to inquire about the pool schedule and fees.

By nature, pools are costly to maintain, but the benefits are infinite. There are as many reasons for swimming as there are swimmers. Come for lessons or to have a pleasant afternoon at poolside and meet the staff. Swimming is a gift that keeps on giving, and it's a good way to network with other folks. Kimberly Wilson Mercersburg
