Great Cove Golf News

Play continued at Great Cove Golf Course last week with an ABCD Better Ball tournament and the 12th week of Men's League.

More than 12 teams played in the four-man ABCD Better Ball tournament on Sunday that started at 9 a.m. Prizes were given to the four lowest scoring teams and winners of closest to the pins on par 3s.

The team of Ron Blair, Mallory Cortis, Clark Brant, and Dave Vance won the tournament, and a prize of $240, with a combined score of 193. Second place went to Ken Mayhugh, Mitch Ott, Buzz Carmack, and Wilmer Boyle team who posted a score of 200 and won $180. Ronald Maslanik, Foster Early, Preston Mellott and Mac Magee took third place with a 201 and received $150.

Tim Ranck, Dave Vance, Pat Shafer and Ken Mayhugh won closest to the pins; each player received $15.

Thursday's Men's League was the beginning of the second half of summer play. Currently in the lead is the team of Fraker and McClain, which earned 6.5 points. Tying for second place with 6 points are the teams of Shives and Shives, and Paruch and Garland.
