Pa. Man Killed In Fireworks Accident
QUAKERTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say an employee of the fireworks company staging a July Fourth celebration was killed by an explosion.
Police Chief Scott McElree says "some kind of explosion'' occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday at the beginning of the grand finale of the event in Quakertown's Memorial Park. He says authorities immediately stopped the show and evacuated part of the park.
Firefighters rendered first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at St. Luke's Hospital-Quartertown shortly after the blast. His name, age and hometown have not been released.
McElree says county and state police fire marshals are investigating.
