Hope everyone was able o get out and enjoy the beautiful July Fourth weekend. Some areas had fireworks for the evening celebration.

Quite a lot of folks start their summer vacation the first week in July. A lot of folks commented they would be vacationing closer home this year due to gas prices.

Visitors with Harvey and Pat Berkstresser over the Fourth were Shawn and Jackie Berkstresser and son Ryan of Slippery Rock, John and Heidi Peck and children Holly, Jacob, Joel and Joann of McConnellsburg and Kate Berkstresser. All had a very enjoyable holiday together and helped Harvey celebrate his Fourth of July birthday.

A car and truck show sponsored by Hustontown Fire Co.. will be held on Saturday, July18, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Preregistration is $5 per judged car by July 11. Hope all interested folks have their entries all polished and shined and ready to go to make this a great show and also to support your loyal fire company. There will also be a chicken barbecue and other food available. For more information, call 987-3783 or 987-3743.

Visitors in the Kate Berkstresser home on Sunday evening for a couple hours were Mr. and Mrs. William Feagley of Ohio.

Household hint: Vitamin B beats bugs. Try taking B vitamins to keep bugs away. When the vitamins are excreted through perspiration, they give your skin an odor that insects such as mosquitoes and gnats seem to find offensive.
