Chauncey McGarvey spent last week in Wyoming where he attended the memorial service and scattering of the ashes of his good friend and former hunting guide, Mike Nystrom. Mike's ashes were scattered on the mountain where they hunted.

Visiting with Junior and Hannelore Hann this week is Hannelore's daughter, Carmen Madero, and children Alexis of Belleville, Ill., and son Bronson of Columbia, Mo.

Betty Christian is home after spending a few days in Fulton County Medical Center.

Loy Garber, McConnellsburg Spartan baseball coach for 22 years, and Craig Cutchall, girls basketball coach for the Forbes Road Cardinals for 35 years, have retired from their positions. Have an enjoyable retirement.

Congratulations to Justin Evans and Amy Hill, who were united in marriage on Saturday, June 4, at Cowans Gap Park.

Melinda Taylor recently spent two weeks in South Carolina with her daughter, Amy, and husband Anthony. She welcomed home her granddaughter, Abby, on June 24. Abby has three brothers.

Margaret "Peggy" Weller Kokoska has moved into her apartment on Myers Avenue.

Marian Hunter is home recuperating after spending more than a week in Fulton County Medical Center.

Mike Shade, head coach for the Southern Fulton Indian softball team, has resigned after 17 seasons. In those 17 seasons, he had 15 winning seasons. May you have a healthy and an enjoyable retirement.

Happy birthday to Mildred Mellott of Burnt Cabins, who will be 98 years old on July 14.

Sympathy goes out to the family and relatives of Thelma Grissinger, who passed away last week.

Toby, Dena, Tobias, Hannah and Tessa McGarvey and Justin Strait attended the Altoona Curve baseball game on July 4 and enjoyed the fireworks display.

John and Sandi Oakman from Bardstown, Ky., spent several days with Ralph and Doretta Mellott and visited friends of the area. While here, they attended the annual Oakman reunion.
