Harry R. Brant

Harrisonville, 89

Harry R. "Dick" Brant, 89, Harrisonville, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Taylor Township, January 13, 1920, the son of the late H. Chester and Grace (Cook) Brant. He was the husband of Mabel G. (Wright) Brant, whom he married on December 24, 1940.

He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, and a past member of VFW Post 655 in McConnellsburg.

He worked at the Cove Valley Esso Station along the PA Turnpike, worked in construction helping to build the PA turnpike, was a farmer and also served in the U.S. Army as a T5 in World War II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, H. Clyde (husband of Phyllis) Brant, Harrisonville; sisters: Lena Bergstresser, Shirleysburg, and Ferne Vensel, Bedford; grandson Terry Brant and great-grandchildren Shelby and Kyle Brant.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Mort, and a brother, Merrill Brant.

Funeral services were held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1. Pastor William Kuhn officiated. Burial was made in Fairview United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, was in charge of arrangements. Military services were conducted by Fulton Honor Guard.
