Senior Project Nets $835

MLAR works to raise the publicís awareness on the plight of homeless animals as well as educating the community on the benefits of adopting an animal in need. A concert to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Main Line Animal Rescue near Philadelphia, Pa., was held May 30 at the MHS Alumni Community Building in Mc- Connellsburg.

Organized by McConnellsburg High School seniors Courtney DeShong and Whittney Fix for their senior project, the concert raised $835 for three charitable organizations.

Both the ACS and MLAR, a nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to the rescue and placement of abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals, recieved $350.

The remainder of the proceeds - $135- went to the alumni community building.

Courtney and Whittney would like to thank everyone who attended the benefit concert, the four bands that played (Blackjack, Hope Fallacy, Turncoats and Way Down East) and the following for all their time and donations: DeShong's Computer Repair, Fulton County Medical Center, G & P Distributors, Giant, Great Cove Baskets, John and Helen Hann, Dr. Kaiser, K& S Auto & Cycle, Clarence Kerlin, Lincoln Way Market, Main Moon, Mamma's Pizza, Mac- Donald's Pharmacy, Mc- Connellsburg Fire Police, McLaughlin's Drug Store, NAPA Auto Parts, Ott Brothers, Pam Hollinshead, Peckie's Auto Body, The Shack, Sheetz's, Snyder's Insurance, Summer Thyme Floral, Tower Bank, and Yocum's Beverage.

The next benefit dance will be on Saturday, August 1, from 7:00 p.m. until 10 p.m. in the Alumni Community Building. Alliance will be playing and all donations will be going to the Liberty Crouse Fund. Liberty is 6-year- old McConnellsburg Elementary student who is battling cancer.
