Chalmer E. Knepper

Three Springs, 89

Chalmer E. Knepper, 89, Three Springs, died at 3:05 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009, at Altoona Regional Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born August 6, 1919, in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, a son of the late Elmer and Nellie (Yingling) Knepper.

He is survived by a brother, with whom he resided, Arley I. Knepper, Three Springs, and the following nieces and nephews: Merrill Kerlin, Carl Barnett Jr., Lavonne Greene, Nellie Jack, Elmer Barnett and Glenn Barnett.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ladema Barnett, and a brother, Pryor Knepper, who as 7 years old when he died.

Also preceding him in death were twin nieces: Dorothy and Doris Kerlin; nieces Barbara Kerlin Cutshall and Sheila Barnett and a nephew, Rickey Barnett.

He was a licensed poultry grader and had worked for 13 year at Swift and Co., Chambersburg. He retired due to illness and lived and worked on the farm with his family until his death.

He enjoyed gardening, writing poems and was fond of the cocker spaniels he had when he was younger.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, at Robert D. Heath Funeral Home Mount Union. Rev. William Hughes officiated. Burial was made in Center United Methodist Cemetery, Three springs.
