Cowans Gap On PCNTV Sunday

Visitors to Cowans Gap State Park enjoy the sun and sand lakeside Tuesday morning. The popular park will be showcased on the Pennsylvania Cable Network's summer tour of state parks this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The 1,085 park has a 42-acre lake, 10 miles of trails and 224 campsites. For the past three summers the state's cable news network has showcased various parks across the state in a weekly series of tours conducted by park staff.

According to PCNTV's Web site, the Sunday evening schedule for the remainder of this summer includes: • June 28, Cowans Gap • July 5, R.B. Winter • July 12, Pymatuning •July 19, Hills Creek and Mount Pisgah • July 26, Yellow Creek • August 2, Codorus • August 9, Parker Dam • August 16, Little Buffalo • August 23,Keystone; and • August 30, Worlds End and Frances Slocum. Once a park tour has aired, it may be purchased from PCN and the following state park video tours are available for sale: Gifford Pinchot, Little Pine and Hyner View, French Creek Prince Gallitzin, Mc- Connells Mill, Black Moshannon, Raccoon Creek, Promised Land, Laurel Ridge, Bald Eagle, Cherry Springs, Leonard Harrison, Ricketts Glen, Canoe Creek, Oil Creek/Jennings environmental education center, Hickory Run, Lehigh Gorge, Cook Forest, Ohiopyle and Presque Isle.

Cowans Gap, located in the Allens Valley of Fulton County, and surrounded by state forestland, is a 1,085-acre park and offers 10 miles of trail options to visitors. Trout, bass, perch and panfish are stocked in the 42- acre Cowans Gap Lake. Camping is available on 224 campsites, and the park also offers cabin rentals during the spring, summer and fall months.
