Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

Sunday presented the longest day of the year. Now the last half of the year will go even faster as the days are shorter. It's hard to believe this year is half gone.

Liberty Crouse, six-year-old daughter of Michael and Mary Crouse of Big Cove Tannery, is a patient at Hershey Medical Center, due to have brain surgery on Thursday for a brain tumor. We send speedy recovery wishes to her as we keep her in our prayers.

Glad to report Betty Shotts was able o return home after spending a few days in the hospital. Full recovery wishes are sent her way.

Sorry to report Charles Shotts had to be taken back to Fulton County Medical Center. Also sorry to hear he isn't doing as good as we would like to report. We send get well wishes to him.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend and share their talent. There have been nice crowds, so come out and spend the evening.

Are you folks who have cars for the car show ready? Just a reminder that it is getting closer. It will be held Saturday, July 18.

Happy birthday to Robert Bennett on June 26.

Household hint: Freshen that thermos. Before filling a vacuum bottle that has absorbed beverage odors or been stored for a while, freshen it with one tablespoon of baking soda and warm water. Let stand 20 minutes and scrub out, rinse and air dry.
