Barbara Weller attended APIC's annual Infection Prevention conference in Fort Lauderalde, Fla., June 5-11 and on returning home visited with Dorthula Fletcher and family.

Teresa DeShong of Mc- Connellsburg spent a week in Ohio helping out her daughter, Jamie Crout (former resident) who gave birth to her fourth child, Landon Pryce Crout. Jamie's father, John, joined them later in the week to help with the other three grandkids: Ian, 6; Addison, 3 and Sydney, 1.

Randy Clever is home recuperating after extensive surgeries in Altoona Hospital.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Blanche McElhaney who passed away on Saturday.

Carl Jr. and Linda Bain and daughter Bethany of Indiana visited with their parents, Carl and Hulda Bain, and Paul and beverly Souders over the weekend.

Tony, Martina and Cooper McGarvey and friend Mattie, enjoyed a day at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh and attended the parade for the Penquins hockey team. They were celebrating Cooper's 14th birthday.

Congratulations to Russ and Joanne Gordon on their 50th wedding anniversary on June 14, and also to Lee and Sharon Glazier on June 20.

Spencer Souders, 13-year-old son of Todd Souders and Tina Souders, had appendix surgery last Thursday.

Congratulations to Stephanie Swope who received her RN degree on May 16 at Hagerstown Community College. She is the daughter of Deb and Greg Swope. Her grandparents are Ruth and Cloyd Swope and Betty Lanehart.

George Gress is at home recuperating from knee surgery recently in Harrisburg.

John and Annette Rasp will celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary on June 29.

Dr. Jeremy McGarvey of Philadelphia was home visiting relatives over the weekend.

Congratulations to Fred Cunningham and Maggie Sue Swope, who were married on Saturday in Sideling Christian Church, with a reception in the social hall following the ceremony.

Get well wishes and prayers go out to George Lynch, who suffered a stroke last Thursday and is a patient in Hershey Hospital.

Public Opinion baseball allstars from this county were second team: Logan peck, Mc- Connellsburg; Jesse Smartt, Southern Fulton; and Dylan Gelvin, Forbes Road. Honorable mention went to Nathan Swope and Devin Petty-John, both of McConnellsburg; Jerry Berkstresser, Forbes Road; and Josh Hall and Derek Younker, Southern Fulton.

Public Opinion girls soccer allstars from McConnellsburg were second team: Sam McQuade and honorable mention went to J.J. Deshong, Casey Pollock and Sarah Brady.

Bobby Riggs and wife Collette spent the weekend visiting here with his mother, Maggie Riggs, and sister Lindsay and Lex Mellott of Warfordsburg. He and Collette returned Sunday to Atlanta, Ga., where Bobby is working in special effects on a new Ashton Kutcher movie "Five Killers" that will be released next year.

Jamie Greathead took a few days off from "The News" publisher's desk last week to attend the Saturday wedding of Andrea Elisabeth Cortes-Comerer, daughter of Harold Comerer of Waynesboro and McConnellsburg, in New York City. The morning ceremony took place in St. Paul's Chapel, Columbia University.
