Great Cove News
Great Cove held two tournaments last weekend, the Forbes Road Class of 2010 and a Par 3 - and Men's League play continued with its ninth week on Thursday.
Saturday's Forbes Road Class of 2010 tournament began at 9 a.m. and was played as a fourman scramble. The team of Dave House, Marvin Kendall, Bryan Campbell and Gary Bard won first with a score of 56, 15 under par. Second place went to John Mixell, Jim Truax, Chris Munson and Larry Lecompte, who shot a 57. The third team of Scott Cromer, Jesse Newman, Tim Newman and Vance McClain shot a 58.
Thirty-five players were in Sunday's Par 3 tournament, which had a non-typical course set up. Tee placements were behind greens, in bunkers and in roughs, and pin placements made putting challenging, many being on hills or near fringes.
Scoring was divided into three flights for Sunday's tournament. Larry Lecompte won the first flight, shooting a 53. Chris Munson won the second flight with a score of 56, and the third flight was won by Kenny Welsh, who shot a 59.
The team of Pat Shafer and Randy Clever are the point leaders in Men's League after earning seven points Thursday to put its total at 44.5. Half a point behind is the team of Mitch Ott and Eric Fisher. In third is the team of John Mixell and Jim Truax, with 43 points.
The Forrest Mellott Memorial tournament will be held this Saturday, and the Father's Day Tournament is set for Sunday.
