Ed Brown of Clear Ridge is home after a three-week stay in Fulton County Medical Center.

Tim, Deb, Gabrielle and Abagael McGarvey recently enjoyed a 10-day cruise in the Caribbean.

Ray Koontz, who was in HealthSouth, Mechancisburg, is now a patient in Fulton County Medical Center undergoing rehab since last Tuesday.

Sympathy goes out to Louise Smith and family on the death of her husband, Doug Smith, who both were longtime members at Great Cove Golf Club. They formerly lived in Mercersburg and now live in Laurel Run Retirement Center in Caledonia.

Get well wishes to Don Pensinger of Fort Loudon, also a longtime member of Great Cove Golf Club. He recently had heart surgery in Hershey Hospital and spent a few days in Chambersburg Hospital and is now home recuperating.

John "Pete" Rasp celebrated his 83rd birthday with his wife, Bessie, and family on Sunday at son Johnnie's and family with a cookout. His birthday was June 12.

Toby, Dena, Tessa, Hannah and Tobias McGarvey and Justin Strait enjoyed a trip to Lancaster over the weekend.

The weather was very nice for the folks attending and the vendors for the Strawberry Festival on Friday and Saturday, as well as all the other activities in the county.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers.

Happy wedding anniversary to Warren and Goldie Kerlin, who recently celebrated their 62nd.

It happened this week: In 1935, James Braddock claimed the title of world heavyweight boxing champion from Max Baer in a 15-round fight in Long Island City, N.Y.

Country shortcuts: Got a pan with caked on bits? Fill it with water and toss in a dryer sheet. The stuck-on food will "unglue" from the pan, making it a cinch to clean in the morning.

Jessie Dean returned safely from Togo, Africa, recently. She will be staying with her son in Connelsville, Pa. and hopes to make several visits to Fulton County before she returns to Togo in September.

Brett Hedrick, son of Walter and Julie Hedrick of Somerfield, N.C., made the dean's list at Pensacla Christian College, Fla. He is majoring in finance and preparing for his junior year. His grandmother is Clara Hedrick of town.
