Great Cove Baseball School Great Cove Baseball School will be held for players ages 8-12 of age to learn baseball fundamentals. The school is set for July 6, 7, 8 and 9 at the Fulton County Little League field located in Lions Community Park, McConnellsburg. The sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up at 3:00 p.m. Lunch is provided. Free T-shirts and prizes awarded. The instructors are Bob Thomas, Chambersburg High School baseball coach; Brett Sellers, James Madison University and Loy Garber, McConnellsburg High School baseball coach. Bluegrass At The Old Homeplace Bluegrass music will be held at the Dale Garland farm Saturday, June 27, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Free admission, bring law chairs. Concessions will be sold. Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Practice Trap Shoots Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club wishes to invite the public to join in or practice trap shoots every Friday night until November 20 and trap shoots at noon the third Sunday of every month from now until the end of the year.

Lil' Hands Art Intro Camp Introduce your little ones to the world of art with this six-week, once weekly class geared toward the use of pencil, charcoal, pastels and markers. The class led by area artist Nancy Hogan will be held at her studio located at 6146 Great Cove Road, Needmore, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug 6, 13, 20 and 27 and September 3 and 10. Class size is limited to 10 children between the ages of 5 and 7. Science Day Camps Registrations for many 4-H camps are still being accepted. The Robotics Camp is now full, but a waiting list is available. Stop by the Extension Office for information or call Lori at 485-4111.

4-H Camp Cloverbud Camp Cloverbud will be held July 1 at Great Cove Golf Course from 9 a.. to 3 p.m. Registration is limited to 30 youths. Area youths interested in the 4-H Cloverbud program (for kids age 5- 7 as of 1/1/09) are also invited to attend. Cost for 4-H Cloverbuds is $10; other youths $15. Tractor Pull Franklin County Tractor Pullers will hold a tractor pull Sunday, June 28, at Harper's Memorial Park, Shade Gap. Gates open at noon and pull starts at 2:00 p.m.

Bus Trip Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Washington, D.C., Saturday, July 25. All will be able to choose from a day at the zoo or a day at the Smithsonian. The bus departs McConnellsburg Courthouse at 6:45 a.m. and arrives at the Smithsonian at 9:00 a.m. Those going to the zoo will arrive there at 9:30 a.m. and depart at 4:30 p.m. and from the Smithsonian at 5:00 p.m. A stop will be made for dinner and arrive back in McConnellsburg around 8:45 p.m. Cost is $25 per person. Dodgeball Tournament A dodgeball tournament will be Saturday, June 20. Registration will be from 9:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m. at the alumni community building in McConnellsburg (old MHS gym). Open Stage Hustontown Fire Co. will hold a open stage on Saturday, June 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.

Car/Truck Show Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a car and truck show and cruise-in Saturday, July 18, on the fire company blacktop parking lot. Registration is from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Event time is 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Preregistration is $5 per judged car by July 11. Send check to Hustontown Fire Co., 426 North Clear Ridge Road, Hustontown, PA 17229. Car, Truck, Motorcycle Show Franklin/Fulton Auto Club will hold a car, truck and motorcycle show July 4 (raindate July 5) at the Mc- Connellsburg American Legion. Registration is from 9:00 a.m. to noon with awards given at 3:00 p.m. Restrooms and food will be available. Golf Tournament Fulton County Community Christian School will host the eighth annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial golf tournament on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Great Cove Golf Course, Mc- Connellsburg. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000. Bus Trip An American Celebrations one-day bus trip to the Longaberger Homestead will be held Saturday, June 20. Price is $75 and includes transportation, breakfast on the bus, snacks and drinks. Ready, Aim, Fire Adventure Camp Get ready for a full day of archery, clay pigeon and target shooting along with some snacks prepared over the fire, lessons in first aid, environmental awareness and trapping as well as a compass treasure hunting course at the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club on Thursday, July 30. Up to 50 students in grades 4-8 eligible. Registration and payment must be received by July 20. Wind and Water Wonders Adventure Camp Ever wonder what lurks under the water or what can be found soaring through the sky? This one-day camp will put those questions to rest with activities including fishing, SMART Angler, bats of the night, gobbling turkeys, a turkey trapping demonstration, paddle boats and more at Cowans Gap State Park on Thursday, August 6. Up to 50 students in grades 4-8 eligible. Registration and payment must be received by July 15.
