Grade-Change Scam Delays Diplomas
READING, Pa. (AP) - Graduates at one eastern Pennsylvania high school donned caps and gowns and marched in their graduation ceremony, but didn't get their diplomas because of a grade-changing scheme.
Officials at Reading High School delayed handing out diplomas to 700 seniors, because students had been caught logging into the district's computer system as a teacher.
Principal Wynton Butler says officials discovered the problem Monday. But they didn't have enough time to determine who was eligible to graduate in Wednesday's ceremony. Instead, all the seniors were handed empty diploma folders.
