Four students from the Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School Allied Health Program received their certificate to be a nurse aide on June 2, 2009. The students are in their second year of a three-year program training program. Alexis Knisely, Ashley Mellott, Tiffany Diehl are from Southern Fulton High School and Ariel Hall attends the Forbes Road High School. Brandi Mellott is the student's allied health instructor. Lynn Miller is the Primary Care Instructor of the Certified Nurse Aide Program, with Vonnie Miller and Amy Swank serving as the clinical instructors.

The students have participated in a rigorous 100-hour training. The training includes classroom, laboratory and clinical rotation coursework. The students passed the American Red Cross exam and will now be placed on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry. The Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry allows an employer to verify experience and knowledge of potential employees. The nurse assistant is an important member of the healthcare team who holds a high level of experience and ability.

The students will be eligible to participate in the Cooperative Education Program their senior year as Capstone students. Capstone students utilize training received through the FCAVTS during their senior year for work-based credit.
