Class of 2009 Cadets To Graduate Friday
The Fulton County Camp Cadet Association will hold its 15th annual graduation for 37 members of the Class of 2009 this Friday evening, June 12. The cadets arrived at Camp Sinoquipe near Fort Littleton for the one-week camping experience on Sunday and are scheduled to graduate lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
The graduation address will be delivered by Pennsylvania State Police Capt. Timothy L. Mercer. Mercer is the commanding officer of Troop G in Hollidaysburg, Pa. The McConnellsburg station is located within Troop G.
Thirty-seven cadets, 27 male and 10 female, between the ages of 12-15 have spent the week in four squads. Squad members (with their school district in parentheses) include: Blue Squad: Beau Wilson (CF), Daniel Jones (CF), Zachery Fittery (FR), James Crowder IV (CF), Cheyenne Burger (FR), Hunter Mellott (CF), Matthew Fletcher (CF), Breanna Worthing (FR) and Hannah Purnell (FR). The senior cadet is Dustin Sheffield. Squad leaders are Cpl. Todd Myers, Trooper Kenneth Falkosky, Trooper Jeff Remikas and Brent Pistner.
Green Squad: Kyle Schoen (FR), Dalton Garlock (CF), Robert Crouse (CF), Nery Diffenderfer (CF), Dalton Hawbaker (FR), Jordan Mellott (CF), Cory Morris (SF), Sarah Spade (SF), Jennifer Pittman (CF) and Harlie Swope (SF). The senior cadet is Brett Burger. Squad leaders are Cpl. William Baker, Trooper Joe Horton, Trooper Angie Roher and Christine Mc- Quade.
Red Squad: Zane Baker (SF), Caleb Guyer (FR), Isaiah Barnes (CF), Logan Downin (CF), Wyatt DeShong (CF), Nicholas Keller (FR), Dallas Ruppenthal (SF), Jasmine Strait (FR) and Katherin Berkstresser (FR). The squadís senior cadet is Nikki Fleming. Squad leaders are Trooper Roger Sheffield, Trooper Matthew Wadsworth, Trooper Blaine Henderson and Ann Sheffield.
Purple Squad: Tristen Deneen(CF), Garret Farling (CF), Tyler Johns (SF), Dillan Lashley (SF), Dalton Melius (CF), Nicolas Linthicum (SF), Jacob Pryor (SF), Rhonda Phillips (SF) and Morghan Taylor (FR). The senior cadet is Libby Strayer and the squad leaders are Cpl. Sean Flaherty, Trooper Brad Huff, Trooper Gary Hibner and Lori Lupey. McConnellsburg station commander Sgt. Jesse Zorger provides supervision for all four of the squads.
Camp activities for this week include programs by the Pennsylvania State Police K-9 Unit, the PSP Mounted Unit, primitive Indian folklore, snake handling, presentations by the Game Commission, the Army National Guard helicopter, FBI, the county fire companies and programs on stream studies and Pennsylvania history. The youths are also given instruction on the shooting range and on the obstacle course. Water activities will also be held. The always-popular triathlon will be held again this year from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, and a dance for the cadets will also be held again on Thursday evening.
Donald Eisaman, PSPRetired, is serving as camp director this year and also serves on the board of directors. The board of directors includes Cpl. William Baker, president; Randy Clever, vice president; Christine Mc- Quade, secretary; Lori Lupey, treasurer; and board members Jack Rhodes, Don Eisaman, Brent Pistner, Judy Eisaman, Nancy Younker, Diane Younker, Vickie Gordon, Trooper Jim Lupey and Trooper Joe Horton.
