Play continued at Great Cove Golf Course last week with the annual member/guest tournament and the seventh week of men's league.
More than 70 golfers played in the two-man, better ball member/ guest tournament on Sunday that started at 9 a.m. Prizes were given to the lowest 10 netscoring teams, lowest three gross-scoring teams, and winners of closest to the pins on par 3s and longest drives on holes five and 10.
Tim Ranck and Mike Hicks won the tournament, and a prize of $200, with a net score of 61. There was a tie for second place between Dave Vance and Tom Klick, and Russell Harmon and Kris McDonald, who posted net scores of 62. Both teams won $170. Darrell McLaughlin and Jesse Myers took fourth place with a 63 and received $150.
Steve "Smoke" Mellott and Adam Frank shot a 69 to win the low gross score and $200. With scores of 71, Carl Paylor and Alec Kessler shared second place in low gross with Craig Paylor and Joe Benjamin. Both won $125.
Ryan Early, Jeff Ward, Paul Schultise, and Gary Bard won closest to the pins, and Adam Frank and Dex Spencer won longest drives. Each player received $15.
Thursday's men's league saw John Mixell's and Jim Truax's team advance to outright first place after earning 4.5 points to put its total at 38.5. Second place is currently shared between the teams of Bob George and Jeff Poffenberger, and Pat Shafer and Randy Clever, who have point totals of 37.5. Fourth place is held by Russell Harmon and Brian Batdorff with 36.5.
