Harry C. Ansell
Harry C. Ansell, Sr., 87, Three Springs, died at 1:10 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 18, 1922, in Bitner, he was a son of the late George and Gertrude (Guth) Ansell. He was united in marriage to the former Mary R. Centi June 25, 1946. She preceded him in death December 10, 1999.
He is survived by a daughter and son: Irene M. Ansell, Three Springs, and Harry C. Ansell Jr., Three Springs; a brother and sister: Homer Ansell, Fort Littleton, and Betty Warthin, McConnellsburg.
He was preceded in death by fou brothers: Merle, John, Floyd and Carl Ansell.
He was a member of the former Oak Gove Evangelical United Brethren Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy.
He was a member of Madden- Wennick American Legion Post No. 518, Rockhill. He served on the Huntingdon County Republican Committee in Clay Township and also as a supervisor and tax assessor for Clay Township. He also served as a forest fire warden for more than 50 years.
He retired from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, at Martin R. Brown funeral Home, Orbisonia. Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon officiated. Burial was made in Three Springs Cemetery.
