Boxer Joe Frazier's Step-Grandson Is Killed In Bar
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say the step-grandson of boxing great Joe Frazier has been fatally shot in a North Philadelphia bar.
Police say 25-year-old Peter Lyde Jr. was working as a security guard when he was struck by a bullet during an argument involving a patron, a bartender and two other people around 1:20 a.m. Sunday at the Pleasures On The Ridge Tavern.
Lyde was pronounced dead about a half hour later at a hospital. He was the son of Peter Lyde Sr. who is married to Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, Joe Frazier's daughter.
Dozens of friends and family gathered outside Judge Frazier- Lyde's house Sunday evening.
The family released a statement on Sunday saying they were devastated.
No arrests have been made.
