Cowans Gap Activities

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of State Parks, and Cowans Gap State Park would like to announce the following activities:

June 5 - 7:30 p.m.: Turtles of PA

Check out some turtle replicas, shells and other neat turtle stuff. This program is suitable for all ages and will be held at the Brightbill Interpretive Center.

June 6 - 7:00 p.m.: Recycling Crafts

Express your crafty side while making some neat items from recycled materials. This program is designed especially for children, but all ages are welcome. Program will be held at the Brightbill Interpretive Center; 8:30 p.m.: Kids' Night at the Movies

Let your kids stay up past their bedtime for a special movie presentation at the Amphitheater! Grownups will also like this video, featuring the close-up lives of insects and other creatures.

June 7 - 9:00 a.m.: Family Fishing Event

PFBC volunteer instructor Jim Snyder will begin by teaching kids about rods, reels, baits and fish species, as well as what it means to be a sportsman and lots of other cool stuff. Then the whole family is invited to wet a line, licenses not required: This is a Fish for Free Day! Loaner rods, tackle and bait will be provided. This program will go on rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Reservations are requested, but not required, and may be made by calling the Brightbill Interpretive Center at 717-485-9018.
