Mellott Retires After 24 Years Of Air Force Service

Lt. Col. Lionel S. Mellott, son of Col. Jerre K. Mellott (Ret.) and Frances B. Mellott, Hustontown, retired from the United States Air Force after nearly 24 years of active service.

Mellott graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1985 with an electrical engineering degree and entered the Air Force June 15, 1985, and was commissioned a second lieutenant. His first assignment as Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. While there he graduated from West Flordia wiht a MBA. Follow on assignments included Wright Patterson, Dayton, Ohio; Robbins Air Force Base, Ga.; Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama; and the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

His last assignment was commander of ROTC Detachment at University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Ark.

Mellott is retiring to northern Virginia area with his wife Shane and sons Nicholas and Graham and has accepted a position with Alion Science and Technology in Washington, D.C.
