Youth Day Hunters Helping Kids will be hosting a youth day June 20 at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club, starting at 8:30 a.m. Children from ages 5 and above are welcome to learn and shoot rifle, crossbow, shotgun, etc. Forestry and wildlife walks, food and games will also be held. Historical Society Library Fulton County Historical Society library has closed while the building is being renovated. Research books and genealogy materials will not be available for public use until the Fulton County Library renovation is completed in mid-summer. At that time the Historical Society library will reopen in a room on the second floor that will be accessible by elevator.
Library Board Applications The Fulton County Library is currently accepting applications from interested individuals to serve on the Fulton County Library Board. The board is responsible for the wellbeing of the libraries and most policy decisions, and represents the community. Board members are non-paid officials appointed for a threeyear term. Library meetings are held at the Fulton County Library the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Applications are available at the Fulton County Library. All applications must be received at the library no later than June 30, 2009.
55-Alive Driving Class The classroom refresher class for 55-Alive mature driving will be offered at the Warfordsburg Senior Center June 30 and July 1. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. to noon and two days of classes are required. Pre-register either in person or by mailing the check, payable to AARP, for $12 for AARP members, or $14 for non-members, per person, to the Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Graduates of the class will be eligible for the three-year auto insurance discount. Anyone planning on staying for lunch following the class should place reservations one day in advance or when preregistering. There is no test involved. Summer Arts Camp Southern Fulton School District is holding a summer arts and technology camp June 22-26 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the elementary school. Food Drive Fulton County 4-H'ers will be around the county on Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, collecting nonperishable foods and donations for Fulton County Food Basket. Drop-off locations are Wilkins Farm Supply, Gordon's Cruise-In Ice Cream Shop, Harr's Grocery, Lincoln Way Market and Hustontown Post Office. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-4111.
Library Fundraiser Your child can lend a hand in decorating the newly renovated library. You can place your child's hand print and name on a six-inch square ceramic tile to be displayed in appropriate locations at the library. The cost is a suggested $15 contribution. Application forms may be picked up at the library. You can also inscribe your name or the name of a loved one on a brick paver to be placed in the patio area at the front entrance. Your contribution of $50 purchases a paver.
Free Workshop Woodland Owners of the Southern Alleghenies (WOSA) invite all to a free workshop on June 20 to see how a forest regenerates form prescribed burns. One burn took place November 2001; the other in April 2009. The workshop will be led by forest fire specialist supervisor Ray Miller. It will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Sideling Hill Forest Foreman Headquarters along Route 30 in Buchanan State Forest. To register call 717-485-3148.
Hunter Education Course The Hunter-Trapper Education course will be held June 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and June 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club.
