Chatley Chosen As Contest Winner

Victoria Chatley Victoria Chatley Victoria Chatley, daughter of Deb Chatley and Don Chatley, was chosen as one of the 10 winners in a nationwide contest to create a newspaper article about Robert Smalls, an American slave who commandeered a confederate ship during the Civil War.

The contestants had to read a story about Smalls in a scholastic magazine and then, in their own words, create their own article about Robert Smalls.

Victoria received a book by Laurie Halse Anderson titled "Chains" in reward for winning the contest. She is a sixth-grade student in Mrs. D. Mellott's reading class at McConnellsburg Middle School.
