Ultralight Crash In Pennsylvania Kills Md. Man
HANOVER, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in south-central Pennsylvania say an autopsy is scheduled Monday on the body of a Maryland man who died in the crash of his ultralight aircraft.
Adams County Chief Deputy Coroner Francis Dutrow says 70- year-old Philip Postelle, of Walkersville, Md., was killed in the 8:20 p.m. Friday crash in Conewago Township.
Dutrow says Postelle and a friend had taken off in separate ultralights at about 5:30 p.m. from Hanover airport about a mile from the crash site. Resident Larry Rhoten said he heard the engine cut out, and the ultralight then crashed several houses away after hitting a tree and a fence.
A Federal Aviation Administration official examined the aircraft Saturday, but officials say township and county authorities will investigate the crash.
