Anniversary wishes this week to Patrick and Jamie Horne and Zane and Gale Fraker.

Get well wishes to Boyd Varner, Sonny Cutshall, Kathy Keebaugh, Dick Rhoades and John Nearhood.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Nancy Horne. Nancy fought a brave fight with cancer for many years. She will be remembered as a great teacher by many who attended Forbes Road. Our prayers go out to Ronnie, Philip and Patrick Horne and their families.

A ham potpie dinner to benefit Amanda Yocum will be held on June 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Orbisonia United Methodist Church Outreach Center. The cost is $9 for all-you-can-eat and $6.50 for take outs. There will also be bake sale items available during the dinner. Amanda has started her physical therapy and is moving about. Please plan to support the potpie dinner on June 13.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Evelyn Mort of North Clear Ridge Road.

John Horton is a patient in Palliative Care in the Altoona Hospital. Our prayers are with John and his family.

The 2009 Southern Huntingdon Relay For Life resulted in a little over $29,000 for cancer research. Congratulations to the "Cooking for a Cure Team" for being the highest money raisers, with "Ridge Runners" a close second. Thanks to all the sponsors and supporters of this very good cause!

Visitors with Steve, Karen, Terri and Tammy Grissinger this week were James Locke, Ramon Martin, Maddison Wible, Nora Grissinger, Brent and Becca Carlson, Bea Covert, and Tom and Mamie Streightiff.

Tim Streightiff was home last weekend from Washington, D.C.

John and Mary Mumma and Buzz and Bea Covert enjoyed dinner in Belleville on Saturday evening for Mary's birthday.

There were many successful mushroom hunters this year. The wet weather was a good start for the morels, and then the warm temperatures made them plentiful.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will be hosting big bingo bonanza on May 31. The kitchen will open at 11 a.m. with games beginning at 1 p.m. There will be 20 regular games with specials.

There will be an antique car show at the firehall on July 18. More details about the event will be coming.

Three Springs Fire Co. and the Robertsdale Broad Top Volunteer Fire Co. will be hosting a gun raffle on June 6 at the Broad Top Fairgrounds.

The annual Maddensville Schoolhouse reunion is scheduled for June 20 beginning at noon at the schoolhouse. Please bring a covered dish, lawn chairs and beverage. Place settings will be provided.
