Benefit Concert A benefit concert will be held Saturday, May 30, at Fulton County Alumni & Friends Association building (old Jaycee building), located in front of the McConnellsburg Elementary School. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with live bands playing from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society and the No Kill Animal Shelter and the Alumni & Friends Assoc. Building. Bands playing are The Hope Fallacy (punk rock), Turncoats (punk rock), Blakkjak (rock) and Way Down East (rock). Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Chaperones and security will be on the premises.

Bus Trip PA-R-PAC will be hosting a bus trip to Atlantic City on June 13. Price per person is $60 with a $25 cash back when arriving at the casino. Trivial Pursuit Ride For Hope A Trivial Pursuit Ride For Hope motorcycle ride will be held June 7 at Broad Top Community Center, 21125 Broad Street, Broad Top. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. All money raised will go to the American Cancer Society and the Broad Top Community Center. Golf Tournament Fulton County Community Christian School will host the eighth annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial golf tournament on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Great Cove Golf Course, Mc- Connellsburg. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000. Gym Time McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will be sponsoring free gym time in the old MHS gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from noon to 2:00 p.m., for anyone who would like to walk, workout, play some basketball, volleyball, table tennis, etc. The gym will be open every Monday and Wednesday and follow the Central Fulton School schedule. Bus Trip An American Celebrations one-day bus trip to the Longaberger Homestead will be held Saturday, June 20. Price is $75 and includes transportation, breakfast on the bus, snacks and drinks. Ready, Aim, Fire Adventure Camp Get ready for a full day of archery, clay pigeon and target shooting along with some snacks prepared over the fire, lessons in first aid, environmental awareness and trapping as well as a compass treasure hunting course at the Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club on Thursday, July 30. Up to 50 students in grades 4-8 eligible. Registration and payment must be received by July 15. Hike A hike will be held Friday, May 29, at the Kerper tract of Buchanan State Forest, Dickey's Mountain Trail and Deshong Trail. In the past year, many improvements have been done in this area, including a 70-foot footbridge and newly cleared and blazed trails. The area is a sycamore/ boxelder floodplain forest, which is a very uncommon part of Buchanan State Forest. For this reason, expect to see some plants and wildlife not see elsewhere in the area. Meet in the parking lot near the footbridge at 9:00 a.m.

Wind and Water Wonders Adventure Camp Ever wonder what lurks under the water or what can be found soaring through the sky? This one-day camp will put those questions to rest with activities including fishing, SMART Angler, bats of the night, gobbling turkeys, a turkey trapping demonstration, paddle boats and more at Cowans Gap State Park on Thursday, August 6. Up to 50 students in grades 4-8 eligible. Registration and payment must be received by July 15. Around The World 3-D Art Camp An "Around The World 3-D" art camp will be held at Forbes Road High School June 22-26, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children enrolled in third through twelfth grades will take a hands-on approach to learning clay sculpture and basketry techniques from other cultures found around the world. Clay hand-building techniques will likely include slab, coil and pinch and give cultural details related to Africa, Greece, China and Mexico. Participation is limited to one or two days depending on grade level. This event, held by the Fulton County Parks and Recreation Commission, is funded in part by a PA Council on the Arts grant. Free Youth Shoots Free youth shoots (.22 rifle and shotgun) are held at Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club, at 5:30 p.m., every Friday night in May. Open to youths 16 and younger. Rifles and shells will be furnished. Winners nightly. The kitchen will be open. Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration taken until 6:30 p.m.

Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.

Practice Trap Shoots Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club wishes to invite the public to join in or practice trap shoots every Friday night until November 20 and trap shoots at noon the third Sunday of every month from now until the end of the year.

Youth Day Hunters Helping Kids will be hosting a youth day June 20 at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club, starting at 8:30 a.m. Children from ages 5 and above are welcome to learn and shoot rifle, crossbow, shotgun, etc. Forestry and wildlife walks, food and games will also be held.
