88-Year-Old Hiker Hurt In Fall Over Pa. Hillside
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - An 88-year-old hiker is recovering in a Johnstown hospital after tumbling down a 150-foot hillside while hiking in a hilltop cemetery.
John Hajnik (HAZH'-nik), of Windber, is in Memorial Medical Center where a spokeswoman could not immediately provide his condition on Wednesday.
Officials say the man's caregiver had dropped him off at the cemetery Tuesday afternoon. He asked to be picked up in two hours, because he likes to walk in the wooded area.
Authorities say Hajnik has Parkinson's and lost his footing and fell down the hillside. He wound up near a fence that keeps rocks and debris from falling onto a road below the hill.
