McCbg. Schools To Hold Concert

The McConnellsburg Middle School Chorus rehearses for this year's spring concert. The McConnellsburg Middle School Chorus rehearses for this year's spring concert. The McConnellsburg Middle School and High School choirs will present their annual spring choral concert Tuesday night, May 19, at the high school auditorium.

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m., which is a change from the normal concert starting time. Although there will be no admission charge, donations will be gladly accepted.

The concert will feature both choirs and the Ensemble, plus two trios. The middle school chorus will present eight numbers, beginning with the patriotic tune "Let Freedom Sing." Two spirituals follow, including "Little Innocent Lamb" and "The Power and the Glory." An Irish tune entitled "Listen" will be followed by a 1980s pop tune by The New Kids on the Block called "This One's for the Children." "Jubiltate Deo" and "Let Your Love Fly Free" are two rather quick pieces. "A Medley from the Little Mermaid," picked by members of the choir, will conclude the middle school portion of the program.

The senior high portion will begin with three songs that have been performed at various county chorus festivals in the past: "Three Madrigals", "The Clothes of Heaven" and "Set Me As A Seal," followed by a trio consisting of Cole Johnston, Ryan Strait and Geoff Campbell singing "Viva Tutti." The folk tune "Shenandoah" and the spiritual "Follow the Drinking Gourd" follow. A female trio consisting of Nicole Price, Brittany Ott and A'lesse Dickerson will present "See You In September," followed by two show pieces, "All I Ask of You" and "A Medley from "Mr. Holland's Opus." Next, the choral Ensemble will perform a number from their repertoire, "The Promise of the Thorn." Three very contemporary and lively sacred tunes will follow: "Laus Deo," "River in Judea" and "In-A-That Day." The seniors of the chorus will perform a special number, "Leave You With A Smile." The concert concludes with "Calling All Dreamers."

Please plan to spend an evening of enjoyable music with us and help support the music program at MHS.
