Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School Drafting and Design students hosted their seventh annual car Show April 25, 2009. The show took place in the McConnellsburg High School parking lot. The weather assisted in a successful turnout of 76 car entries. The entries consisted of muscle cars, modified street rides and classic cars. Three community dealerships: Great Cove Auto, Richards Auto Sales and Hamilton Hyundai, were in attendance to display new products and support the drafting and design program.

First-, second- and thirdplace trophies were awarded for Best of Show. The firstplace winner was Sam Jacoby with a 1967 RS Camaro. Irvin Thrush placed second with a 1932 Ford Coupe. The third-place winner was Ken Laughlin with a 1964 Chevy pickup truck. All entries had the opportunity to vote for their favorite top 15 and all top 15 entries received trophies. The Teach-er's Pet Award was given to Sam Jacoby.

Students and parents donated baked goods to the drafting and design program to help with raising money for the annual field trip to the International Auto Show, held in Manhattan, N.Y. Lorraine Cunningham managed the bake sale for the program. Melinda Peck provided food and refreshments, and Tommy DeShong provided musical entertainment. Eddy's Engraving provided the trophies and dash plaques and Chestnut's Septic Service provided restroom facilities during the show.
