Lydia Mannion, daughter of Beverly Hopper of Greencastle and the late John Mannion, and granddaughter of Louise Long, graduated with honors from Indiana University with a degree in psychology and a minor in English.

Alicia Silcox of Hawaii is visiting for two weeks with her parents, Tom and Mary Deshong of Reservoir Road. Her uncle, Bill Henry, is now home after spending some time in Chambersburg Hospital.

Cito and McConnellsburg United Methodist churches held their mother-daughter dinner on Thursday night at the Fulton Theatre, catered by the Antrim House Restaurant. The Big Cove Tannery Lutheran Church had their mother-daughter dinner Thursday night at the Fort Restaurant in Ft. Littleton, and St. Paul Lutheran Church had its dinner on Friday night with a covered-dish and bingo in their social-dining room.

A small gathering of family and friends helped Tracy Mellott mark his 50th birthday Saturday night at his home in Pigeon Cove near Warfordsburg. Guests enjoyed a picnic celebration that was followed with some eagerly anticipated bluegrass pickin' and singin' by Tracy, brother Lex and friend Jeff Chestnut. Tracy is the son of Lois Lee Mellott and the late Delmar A. Mellott.

Bronwyn Cullen and daughter Lucy of Montoursville, Pa., and Megan Harper and daughters Audrey and Ava of Hagerstown, Md., spent Mother's Day with their mother, Ellen Mullenix, and grandmother, Kathleen Jones, at their South First Street home. Bron and Megan's father and "News" publisher Jamie Greathead joined them for dinner.
