McConnellsburg Woman Sentenced

A McConnellsburg woman was recently sentenced in Huntingdon County to one-year probation for writing a bad check to Lake Raystown Resort. Thirtyone year-old Amelia Leigh (Merson) Woolford was also ordered to pay $100 in fines as well as restitution in the amount of $778.29. The bulk of the restitution is owed to the resort for the incident that occurred in summer 2007.

Harassment Investigated

Two McConnellsburg men were charged with harassment as a result of a state police investigation into an incident that occurred at 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 23.

According to police reports, charges have been filed against 20-year-old Hakeem Jefferson and Keith Largent, 40, for the episode at the Sheetz convenience store in the McConnellsburg Borough. Largent allegedly followed Jefferson around the borough. Jefferson then reportedly went to Largent's house and began yelling.

Truck Windows Broken

Windows were broken out of an older model truck belonging to Daniel Zierma, 35, of Warfordsburg between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28. The mischief occurred on the 900 block of Black Oak Road in Bethel Township. Las Vegas Man Flown From Accident Scene

A Las Vegas, Nev., man was flown from the scene of a motorcycle crash to Altoona Hospital for treatment of major injuries. Lonnie Jessee, 55, was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred at 1:32 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28.

Jesse, state police related, was travelling eastbound at 2190 Pleasant Grove Road when he lost control of his 2007 Yamaha V-Star 1100. The motorcycle struck an embankment along the Belfast Township roadway. State police were assisted on the scene by members of the Needmore Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co.

One Juvenile Cited

A 16-year-old juvenile from Mercersburg has been charged with harassment in connection with an incident along Woodside Drive in Ayr Township. On Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. the juvenile allegedly punched a 15- year-old McConnellsburg juvenile.

Virginia Resident Jailed For DUI

A Mechanicsville, Va., man was sent to the Franklin County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail following a driving-under-the-influence crash at the intersection of Maple and Third streets in McConnellsburg Borough.

According to state police reports, a vehicle operated by 57- year-old Philip W. Wood struck a stop sign at the intersection on Tuesday, April 28. Wood was arraigned after the 8:17 p.m. accident before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott.

DUI, Drug Charges Pending

Charges of driving under the influence, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia are pending as a result of traffic stop near the intersection of Route 30 and Route 915. Fiftyone year-old McConnellsburg resident Michael E. Deneen was initially stopped by state police for multiple traffic violations on Wednesday, April 29.

During the 2 a.m. traffic stop in Brush Creek Township, troopers reportedly detected a strong odor of alcohol as well as marijuana. Deneen allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for drunk-driving.

Rangers Arrest Fort Loudon Man For DUI

Thirty-six-year-old Fort Loudon resident Darren Stewart Woodring faces charges of driving under the influence after allegedly failing to obey a stop sign at Richmond Road located in Cowans Gap State Park. Woodring, park rangers reported, failed to stop on Friday, April 17, at 11:50 a.m. while heading northbound through the park.

Several Charged By Rangers

Several individuals from the Mercersburg and McConnellsburg areas were recently cited by park rangers from Cowans Gap State Park for a series of incidents that occurred at a picnic area on Sunday, April 26.

According to rangers, 22-yearold Tracey Jefferson of Mc- Connellsburg and a 17-year-old Mercersburg boy were cited for an incident involving alcohol at a picnic area at approximately 4 p.m. In addition, 18-year-old Mc- Connellsburg resident Hakeem Jefferson left the scene in his vehicle, "rapidly squealing his tires past small children, visitors and rangers" and was in turn cited for careless driving.

Furthermore, charges of underage drinking and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also filed against a 16-year-old male from Mercersburg in connection with the incidents.

Chambersburg Man Cited For Burning Violation

Cowans Gap State Park rangers have charged 36-year-old Ryan K. Roberts of Chambersburg after he was observed allegedly having a fire burning in a grassy area adjacent to the beach on Sunday, April 26, at 8:34 p.m.

Woman Flown From I-70 Accident Scene

A 24-year-old Warfordsburg area woman was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after she was ejected from a vehicle during an accident along the westbound lanes of I- 70 in Maryland.

Sherry Elizabeth Breeden was listed in stable condition Sunday night following the 2 a.m. crash that occurred just east of Hancock. Breeden was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Michael Roy Morris, 30, also of Warfordsburg. Morris sustained "non-life-threatening injuries," according to reports and has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent driving.

Morris reportedly drove his vehicle off the right side of the roadway, causing it to roll over several times. Breeden was ejected when the vehicle overturned.

Hit-And-Run Reported

A 2004 Hyundai Elantra belonging to Annette E. Dorty, 32, of Greencastle was struck by an unknown vehicle on April 30 between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at 126 North Second Street in Mc- Connellsburg. Man Sought For Trespassing

Seventy-nine-year-old Mc- Connellsburg resident Robert Louis Garlock told state police a young, thin man dressed in all white trespassed on his posted property at 207 South Seventh Street, McConnellsburg, on April 30. When confronted, the man swore at Garlock and left the apartment complex parking lot on foot. The canvas skirt and roof of a tree stand located at 189 Blacks Mountain Road, Waterfall, was damaged between 3:30 p.m. on April 27 and 1 a.m. on April 30. Victim was Waterfall resident Jason Lynn Barnett, 33. Internet Account Fraudulently Established

The name and Social Security number of John W. Beatty, 24, of Needmore was fraudulently utilized to set up both an Internet and telephone account between 11 p.m. on July 27, 2007, and 12:01 a.m. on May 1, 2009. Man Accused Of Assaulting Wife

Fifty-one-year-old Barry Andrew Lake of McConnellsburg was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Devin Horne Friday morning on charges of simple assault. Lake, who is accused of assaulting his wife during a domestic disturbance at 2575 Cito Road, McConnellsburg, was released on $25,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing. According to state police, victim Sherie Danette Lake, 44, also of McConnellsburg required medical attention following the argument on May 1 at 9:30 a.m.

ATV Riders Transported To Hospital

Two McConnellsburg area boys were transported to Fulton County Medical Center with unknown leg injuries after their 2005 Suzuki all-terrain vehicle struck a set of guiderails along old Route 30 on April 30. The driver of the four-wheeler, a 12-year-old male, and his 15-year-old male passenger were transported via McConnellsburg Ambulance. The driver will be cited by state police with several violations under the all-terrain vehicle section of the Vehicle Code, including driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Car Struck Near Turnpike Interchange

A 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Cathy J. Henry of Hustontown was struck by an unknown vehicle just north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange in Fort Littleton Friday morning. Henry's car was struck by an oncoming vehicle that was out of control on the wet roadway at 8:20 a.m. Henry, 61, was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries.

The hit-and-run vehicle is suspected to be a black pickup truck, which likely suffered minor damage to its front left side. Road Sign Stolen

A "stop sign ahead" sign that had been knocked over and lying at 3428 Big Cove Tannery Road in Thompson Township was stolen on Friday, May 1, at 10:45 p.m. Anyone with further information relevant to this theft is asked to call Fulton County Crime Solvers at 717-485-5771 or Trooper Bartlett at 717-485-3131.

McConnellsburg Man Threatened

Twenty-five-year-old Eric Travis Smith of McConnellsburg informed state police investigators he received threatening telephone calls at his Woodside Drive apartment on Saturday, May 2, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Smith refused to answer his phone, which continued to ring.

Hancock Woman Arrested For DUI

Erica Laine Reed, 32, of Hancock, Md., was arrested for driving under the influence after she "performed poorly" on several field sobriety tests conducted by local state police. Reed was initially pulled over at the intersection of Great Cove and Buck Valley roads in Warfordsburg on Sunday, May 3, at 3:29 a.m. for committing a traffic violation.

Cassville Man
Injured In DUI Crash

Cassville resident David A. Strock sustained minor injuries during a driving-under-the-influence crash along Aughwick Road on Sunday, May 3, state police reported. Strock, 45, drove his southbound 1988 Ford Bronco II into a ditch on the berm at 11:30 p.m. The vehicle then went up a steep uphill embankment and flipped onto its roof.

Strock was wearing a seat belt during the crash near the intersection of Stumpy Lane in Dublin Township. In addition to facing charges of drunk-driving, Strock will also be cited for driving a vehicle at unsafe speeds.

Car Rolls Onto Roof Along I-70

A 2007 Ford Mustang was towed from the scene of an accident along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 Monday morning, state police reported. Driver 33-year-old Ramtin Rohani suffered minor injuries in the May 4, 7:15 a.m. crash in Brush Creek Township after his car struck an embankment and flipped onto its roof. Rohani was wearing a seat belt and was not transported to a hospital for treatment.

Truck Collides With Utility Pole

A 2000 Dodge Dakota crashed into a utility pole and a fence, leaving its driver with minor injuries Sunday afternoon. State police reported 27-year-old Jamie Ann McCauley lost control of her southbound vehicle along Wa- terfall Road at 5:52 p.m. Mc- Cauley sustained minor injuries but was not transported to the Medical Center for treatment. McCauley's passenger, a 2-yearold female, was not injured and was secured in a child safety seat.

Teen Girls Transported To Hospital

Two McConnellsburg teens were transported to Fulton County Medical Center on Friday, May 1, for treatment of unknown injuries sustained during a single-vehicle crash along Cito Road. The driver, a 17-year-old female, was reportedly driving too fast for roadway conditions, state police said.

Her southbound 1998 Ford Coupe struck a fence along the right side of the roadway near the intersection of Woodside Drive at 11:23 a.m. Both the driver and her 16-year-old female passenger were wearing seat belts. The driver will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
