Watershed Group Gets Job Done Without Government Oversight

To The Editor:

I cannot thank Derrick Winegardner and the Friends of the Aughwick Watershed group for all the work that was done on Saturday with the trash collection and pickup. It looks fantastic and as a resident, I offer my thanks and offer up my most humblest of apologies for not being there and helping. Ten out of 10 everyone!

But ... it's hard for me to believe that without a governmental act, a fancy engineering firm, elaborately drawn plans and blueprints, a board of overseeing supervisors, years of deliberation and "testing" and a few million borrowed tax dollars that Derrick Winegardner and the Friends of the Aughwick Watershed group were able to clean up some local trouble spots and make a huge improvement to the whole area single-handedly. But they did.

Thanks, Friends of the Aughwick Watershed group; sure wish you would have been in charge of the sewer.
